What is Two Factor Authentication or 2FA?

 

What is Two-Factor Authentication?
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is a very secure way to protect your online accounts. It works by requiring you to identify yourself using two different methods when you log in to your accounts. The second factor is tied to something ‘you have’ (like a cellphone). So you can think of two-factor as something you know (your password) + something you have (your cellphone).

What is Google Authenticator?
Google Authenticator are free applications that make it easy and straightforward for anyone to use two-factor authentication on all of your online accounts, using your phone or desktop. They both provide an App that makes it easy to summon your code upon accessing your account. It is solely by personal preference that we offer both as an option.

How do I enable the two factor option in Cwp?

Within the security settings within your panel (Settings> Configurations), select enable Google Authenticator 2FA.

Then you must open your two-factor application, select to add another account and scan the QR code presented within the Cwp configuration.

Once the two-factor application registers your QR code, you should save the configuration.

Now that you’ve linked your two-factor application to your Cwp account, you can use authentication for the following options:

  1. Logins – When enabled, upon each login into your account you will be required to confirm via your two-factor app.

How do I use my two-factor app?
Whenever a two-factor authentication event is triggered, you will be required to check your two-factor app and type in the verification code within the set time limit shown in your app.

Are you having problems with your two-factor verification code?
Make sure you are using the same two-factor app linked with your Cwp account, and you have selected your Cwp account within your two-factor app. You must delete any older versions of your Cwp account within your two-factor app if you have disabled two-factor authentication within your Cwp account settings and are attempting to re-enable it.

If for some reason you do not achieve the verification of two pass correctly, you can eliminate this form of verification, deleted the corresponding file in the following route: /home/USER/.conf/googlefa and editing the option that in /home/USER/.conf/cwp.ini
