New versions of CWP Billing are free while your license is active. The admin area shows when a new version is available.
Where to find it: License and version in the left menu.
Update
- Back up the database and the installation folder, above all
config/config.php(it holds the app key) andstorage/. - Download the new version from your client area and unpack it over the old installation, as the account user:
cd /home/user
unzip -o cwp-billing-v1.xx.zip -d billing
config/ and storage/ are kept. The package contains no config.php, so yours is never overwritten.
- Fix the permissions if you unpacked as root:
chown -R user:user billing
find billing -perm /022 -exec chmod go-w {} +
- Apply the database updates: a notice in the admin area links to License and version → Apply database updates. On the command line:
php bin/console migrate
- If you use your own theme, run
php bin/console theme:publish. Then compare your overridden templates inthemes/<name>/views/with the newviews/files.
The cron keeps running during the update. If the PHP-FPM opcache keeps old files for a minute, reload PHP-FPM or wait a moment.
Common problems
| Problem | Cause and solution |
|---|---|
| HTTP 500 after the update | File permissions: PHP files that the group can write are refused under suPHP. Run the find … chmod go-w command above. |
| Database update needed | Run Apply database updates or php bin/console migrate. |
| An old page appears | Opcache: reload PHP-FPM. Browser cache: the CSS and JS URLs carry the version, so a reload is enough. |
